Air Jamaica shopping its London routes Air Jamaica, the country's national airline, faced with losses of $20 million a year on its route between Jamaica and London's Heathrow Airport, is looking to shed the route through a deal with either Virgin Atlantic or British Airways, according to a report in Friday's edition of the Jamaica Gleaner.
   The reported cited Jamaica Tourist Board Chairman Dennis Morrison, who said government officials have indicated they want to assure that lift is maintained between the United Kingdom and Montego Bay, and that Air Jamaica was reviewing potential agreements with either British carrier.
   Meanwhile, Mike Henry, the opposition party spokesman on transportation, said any agreement should first be reviewed by a select committee of Parliament that is reviewing Air Jamaica's operations.
   The newspaper also cited its own sources at Virgin, who indicated Virgin had staved off British Airways and would indeed be taking over existing Air Jamaica flights.
