Air Menzies uprgades regional U.K. operation

   Air Menzies International has reorganized its regional U.K. operation, adding service providers and opening new facilities to improve processing times for shipments.
   This new streamlined system will allow for later close-outs and an uptick in next-day shipments departing from London Heathrow, according to a company press release.
   To ramp up operations in Manchester, which sees 40 percent of AMI’s U.K. business, the company will move into a dedicated 8,000-square-foot, on-airport facility in January. AMI has also tapped Ware Transport to truck cargo destined for a Heathrow departure from the new facility. At Leeds Bradford Airport and East Midlands Airport, handler WFS will take over the receiving end of the business, with Ware again offering trucking services. AMI has also added Ware’s services in Birmingham. 
   Sharon Wright, AMI’s regional vice president for Europe, explained how important regional U.K. airports are to AMI and that these new agreements will help the company improve its services. “Customers delivering to AMI at all four regional airports can now benefit from later close-outs and earlier arrivals that increase the opportunities for next-day departures from London Heathrow,” she said in a statement. “These changes are having a very positive effect on our service levels and further enhance our customers’ competitiveness.”
