AIRBORNE WINS J. JILL DELIVERY CONTRACT

AIRBORNE WINS J. JILL DELIVERY CONTRACT

Airborne Express, the Seattle-based parcel delivery company, has been awarded a contract by women's apparel retailer J. Jill to provide home delivery services using the airborne@home program.

Under the three-year, multimillion dollar agreement, J. Jill will ship more than one million shipments annually, Airborne said.

“We discovered that Airborne exceeded our expectations by providing a much later departure time at our facility and an average delivery time of about three days to our customers,” said Keith Abbott, director of logistics for J. Jill.

Airborne has partnered with the U.S. Postal Service to provide residential delivery services under the airborne@home brand, targeted at catalog companies and business-to-consumer Web sites. “J. Jill receives about 15 percent of its orders through the Internet, and is currently in the process of expanding its retail division nationally” said Bob Owen, Airborne's northern New England sales manager.
