AirBridgeCargo, DHL test multimodal pharma service

The all-cargo airline has partnered with DHL Global Forwarding to test container transport of pharmaceutical shipments from Russia to the United States and Nicaragua.    AirBridgeCargo Airlines (ABC) recently completed a multi-modal pharma shipment trial for DHL Global Forwarding (DGF) from Moscow to Miami in accordance with Good Distribution Practice (GDP) cool chain standards.
   For the trial shipment, ABC used an Envirotainer RKN container unit, replacing real vaccines with water in order to test the delivery process, the carrier said. ABC utilized a Boeing 747 freighter from Moscow on its direct route to Chicago and then the cargo was loaded onto a refrigerated truck to Miami. From Miami, the RKN continued its journey to Managua, the capital of Nicaragua, onboard another carrier. The total solution provided by the ABC and DGF teams covered delivery, leasing and guaranteed customs clearance.

   In September 2017, ABC furthered its pharma services by gaining Envirotainer QEP accreditation at its global hub at Moscow Sheremetyevo Airport and in Dallas. ABC gained additional accreditations for its online stations in Milan, Frankfurt, Amsterdam, Los Angeles and Chicago in the months following.
