Airport group rolls out CO2 accreditation service

ACI has unveiled a sustainability program for North America airports.    Airports Council International-North America has launched the Airport Carbon Accreditation program, with Seattle-Tacoma International Airport being the first port to secure the award.
   An airport can receive accreditation by effectively managing, reducing and continuing to measure its carbon-dioxide output.
   ACI first started the accreditation program in Europe in 2009, and has since implemented it in Africa and the Asia-Pacific.
   “The rollout of ACI EUROPE’s Airport Carbon Accreditation program sends the message loud and clear — the many players in this vital industry are committed to working together for the benefit of the environment and the sustainable growth of aviation,” said Angela Gittens, ACI World’s director general. “To allow future generations to meet their needs for economic and social development, increased connectivity and air transport capacity are fundamental.”
