The Overseas Boston will leave the yard under the operation of OSG America and will be used to transport petroleum products for Tesoro. This product tanker is the first of four vessels planned for use by Tesoro, and the 10th vessel built and delivered by the Aker Philadelphia Shipyard.
An additional three ships in the series of 12 tankers for American Shipping are under construction at the yard.
American Shipping owns and leases vessels for operation between U.S. ports. When the current series of 12 tankers is completed in 2011, American Shipping will own the most modern product tanker fleet in the United States, and it will be the first U.S. company to shuttle tankers for use in the Gulf of Mexico.
