The 46,000-deadweight-ton tanker is called Overseas Long Beach, and was transferred at the end of sea trials to a sister company, American Shipping Corp. Like the shipyard, American Shipping is a subsidiary of Aker American Shipping.
The ship will be chartered to Overseas Shipholding Group for use in the Jones Act market, to carry product for BP.
The next tanker in the series is scheduled for delivery by the end of 2007.
