Alaska train involved in minor accident

A freight train collided with a tractor-trailer carrying a load of lumber at a railroad crossing on the Parks Highway in Alaska early Saturday morning, according to the Alaska Railroad Corp. No injuries were reported.

State police and the railroad are investigating the cause of the accident. Crossing signals were working properly at the time, the state-owned railroad said. No spills or derailments of rail cars were reported. The damaged train continued on to Fairbanks after debris was cleared from the scene.
