Alliance returns intra-Asia loop to transpacific

A Grand Alliance service operating as an intra-Asia loop will in May revert back to a transpacific service, American Shipper affiliate ComPair Data confirmed Tuesday.

The CCX service has a rotation of Dalian, Xiangang, Busan, Dalian and Xiangang, with one 4,583-TEU OOCL ship deployed. Aside from OOCL's Grand Alliance partners NYK Line and Hapag-Lloyd, APL takes slots on the service.

On May 4, however, the service will become a five-ship loop with vessels averaging 5,899 TEUs and a rotation of Qingdao, Ningbo, Shanghai, Busan, Los Angeles, Oakland, Busan, Qingdao, Ningbo and Shanghai. NYK will provide three ships, OOCL will provide two and APL will drop out as a slot buyer.

According to maritime news service Alphaliner, the service was amended in December as part of the Grand Alliance's winter program.
