ALTA carriers see 11.4% cargo rise in July
Member airlines of the Latin American Air Transport Association reported an 11.4 percent cargo increase in July to 307,715 freight ton kilometers.
For the year to date, ALTA carriers' volumes (including both all-freight aircraft and combination passenger-freight flights) have gained 2.5 percent to 2.42 million freight ton kilometers. A freight ton kilometer represents a ton of freight carried a distance of one kilometer.
ALTA (www.alta.aero) was founded in 1980 as a non-profit airline association and comprises 36 member airlines with total revenue of more than $16 billion.
