The forklifts will be used portside by the unidentified firm to load and unload general breakbulk cargo. Set to begin delivery in June, the AmeraMex expects to complete the order by September.
Chico, Calif.-based AmeraMex sells, leases and rents heavy equipment to firms within four industries: construction (light and infrastructure), shipping, mining and logging. The firm's container handling equipment line was bolstered by the acquisition in 2006 of Hamre Equipment and the purchase of Sierra Industrial Equipment last year to make it the largest product line now offered.
The new order follows on the heels of AmeraMex's recent announcement of it fourth large order for container handling equipment in the past six months. The firm said it would begin shipping $9.5 million worth of container handling equipment to the ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles this month. The order is to be shipped by the end of June.
In August, the firm announced a $5.5 million deal for equipment with Oakland-based stevedoring firm Marine Terminals Corp. set for delivery by the end of March. Two previous orders last summer amounted to more than $7 million worth of equipment.
