American Airlines providing disaster relief in U.S., Asia    American Airlines said Tuesday it has efforts under way on several fronts to help aid victims of the recent tornadoes and flooding in the Central United States, the Myanmar cyclone, and Wenchuan earthquake in China’s Sichuan province.
   American and American Eagle employees immediately set in motion relief efforts for the areas affected by these natural disasters and continue to reach out to raise funds and provide aid.
   “The devastation wrought by these disasters is almost incomprehensible,” Roger Frizzell, American’s vice president of corporate communications and advertising, said in a statement. “And while a great deal has been done, the need is vast and will continue far into the future.”
   Immediately following the Myanmar cyclone and Wenchuan earthquake, American’s Asia-Pacific Islander Employee Resource Group sprang into action to raise funds and get supplies into the affected areas, as did employees in its Hong Kong sales office, as well as Airline Ambassadors International, a non-profit organization dedicated to delivering humanitarian aid to children in need. Available cargo space on American’s flights from Chicago O’Hare International Airport to Shanghai is being donated by the American Airlines Cargo Division to send supplies.
