American Shipper survey on the FMC

American Shipper is gathering feedback from shippers, carriers, and others to better understand perspectives on how well the Federal Maritime Commission is doing as chief U.S. regulator of the shipping industry.

The business relationships between shippers and shipping lines are under tremendous pressure these days, given the huge structural change going on in the liner carrier industry and dampened trade growth in 2016.
With a new presidential administration taking the helm in early 2017, shifting carrier alliances, and the potential for more M&A activity, the spotlight on the United States’ body responsible for regulating the shipping industry has never been brighter.
In this context, American Shipper is gathering feedback on the industry’s perspective of the Federal Maritime Commission. Perspective is being sought from shippers, carriers, logistics companies, ports and others impacted by global trade.
We encourage you to participate in this important initiative. This short, five-question survey should only take a couple minutes to complete, but will provide valuable insight into how effective the FMC has been and what areas it should concentrate on in the future.
