American signs up for e-AWB

   American Airlines Cargo has become the 42nd airline to sign the International Air Transport Association’s Multilateral Electronic Air Waybill Agreement.
   The plan, which puts carriers on the path to paperless operations, has also been signed by 187 freight forwarders.
   “We have been working behind the scenes on this important issue for some time, and we’re excited to see our name added to the agreement,” AA Cargo’s Kenji Hashimoto said in a statement. “Joining this pioneering group moves us one step closer to paperless operations, which will create more efficiencies for our customers and help minimize our impact on the environment.”
   The carrier is currently using electronic air waybills (e-AWBs) on specific routes with only a few customers, but plans on expanding the service in the near future, according to a company press release. – Jon Ross
