Amsterdam launches smartphone app

   Now, just about anyone can track basic movements in the Port of Amsterdam thanks to a new smartphone application, iamPort.
   The service provides information on expected, arriving and departing ships.
   The app, which currently works with Apple’s iPhones and iPads, tracks both seagoing vessels and river cruises. Users can get information like the size of a vessel, its agent, basic cargo information, expected arrival date and time, and the mooring place of each ship inside of the port. Users can also “follow” seagoing vessels to provide quick access to their information as well as automatic updates for delays, departures, and arrivals.
   The app also shows a map of the port as well as providing news from the past month.
