Andersen promoted to partner of Maersk group
A.P. Moller-Maersk has promoted Thomas Thune Andersen, a former president of Maersk Inc. USA, to a partner of the Danish parent company, effective Jan. 1.
In June, Andersen was appointed chief executive officer of Maersk Oil and Gas, an affiliate A.P. Moller-Maersk, and left the liner shipping side of the conglomerate.
Andersen will now have the title of “shipowner.” He will belong to the top management team of A.P. Moller-Maersk, known as “The Firm A.P. Moller.” The team presently comprises Maersk Mc-Kinney Moller, Jess Soderberg, Knud E. Stubkj'r and Tommy Thomsen.
Andersen started with the A.P. Moller-Maersk group as a trainee in 1977. He has worked in various departments in Denmark and headed several Maersk organizations in Taiwan, the United Kingdom and the United States.
