Antwerp opens Pune rep office

The Port of Antwerp has opened a second representative office in India to spur trade between the South Asian country and Belgium's busiest container port.

The new office will be in Pune. Antwerp opened an office in Mumbai in 2006.

'The West Indian cities of Mumbai, Pune and Nasik form what is called the 'Golden Triangle,' with IT (information technology) services, car production, manufacturing, biotechnology and other industries making it the most important economic region in India,' the port authority said.

The Antwerp Port Authority also plans to appoint a representative in Nasik.

Aside from the representative offices, the Port of Antwerp has established development treaties with the Jawaharlal Nehru Port and Port of Mundra in India.
