Antwerp port executive travels to India to promote two-way trade Antwerp Port Authority Managing Director Eddy Bruyninckx visited the Port of Chennai in India Monday to stoke two-way trade between India and Belgium.
   Bruyninckx came as part of a Belgian delegation that is spending 10 days in India. He promoted Antwerp’s Saeftinghe Development Area as a place where investors in India could develop logistics and industrial facilities.
   Trade between India and Antwerp has been rising steadily the past few years, with Indian exports and imports in Antwerp more than doubling between 2003 and 2007. Last year total tonnage rose to more than 4 million tons, with large volumes of iron, steel and granite, the Antwerp Pot Authority said. Container volume reached 180,000 TEUs in 2007.
   Antwerp also has collaborated with the Port of Mundra on making bulk operations at the private western Indian port more efficient.
