APL, Fujitrans joint venture Vascor Ltd. receives top Toyota award
Third-party logistics provider Vascor Ltd., a joint venture between APL Logistics and Japanese transportation firm Fujitrans, has been awarded Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Kentucky's Outstanding Business Partner Award.
The award, which recognizes key suppliers and service providers to TTMK, is considered the auto firm's highest service honor. Conferred on just a handful of TMMK's 350 suppliers each year, Vascor was the only logistics provider and one of six companies overall to receive the accolade this year.
TMMK is Toyota's largest North American facility, with an annual capacity of 500,000 vehicles and engines. Vascor has provided strategic supply chain management services such as cross-docking, order management, scheduling inbound parts delivery and assembly support to TTMK since Vascor formed in 1987.
Georgetown, Ky.-based Vascor, with annual sales according to Hoover's of $33 million, offers 3PL services to major automotive companies in the Americas.
APL Logistics, with American offices in Oakland, is the logistics arm of Singapore-based marine transportation giant Neptune Orient Lines. Fujitrans, based in Nagoya, Japan is a major transportation firm with interests in such sectors as stevedoring, warehousing, customs clearance, domestic Japanese shipping, marine transportation, insurance and freight handling.
