APL joins Maersk’s U.S. East Coast/East Coast South America loop

Singapore-based ocean carrier APL will this week join Maersk Line’s weekly U.S. East Coast/East Coast South America NASA 1 service.

The first voyage on which APL will participate will be made by the vessel “Maersk Newark” when it departs New York Friday. APL will market the service as Samba.

The NASA 1 uses six ships of about 2,500 TEUs and has a full port rotation of: New York; Philadelphia;    Norfolk, Va.; Savannah, Ga.; Miami; Santos; Montevideo; Rio Grande; Itajai; Santos; Kingston, Jamaica; and back to New York. APL will not call at Kingston.

APL already takes slots in the same trade on the weekly Atlantic Brazil Express of Maersk Line and CMA CGM and on Hamburg Sud’s ABUS loop, which APL markets as Tango.
