APL Logistics opens Dubai center

APL Logistics opens Dubai center    APL Logistics has opened a warehousing center in the Dubai Logistics City complex, the company said Monday.
   The center is 25,000 square feet, with 26,585 pallet positions, and can be expanded up to 40,000 square feet if demand requires, the company said. APL Logistics has a partnership agreement with local logistics provider RSA Logistics.
   APL said the center is close to a pocket of light manufacturing plants and has direct connections with Jebel Ali Port and Dubai's air cargo terminal.
   Dubai Logistics City is a custom-bonded free trade zone, with about 60 percent of imports into the Middle East moving through its borders.
   Komol Roongruangyot, managing director, APL Logistics Middle East, said the focus will be on 'accelerating the movement of goods into the region from Asia's key manufacturing locations and efficiently redistributing products domestically, throughout the Gulf or into sub-Saharan Africa.'
