APL Logistics sets up Kenyan operations
APL Logistics has established operations in Kenya, saying that the African country is fast developing an alternative sourcing market, particularly for U.S. garment manufacturers.
The company has already begun handling apparel exports from Kenya.
“A primary reason for the focus on Kenya is the U.S.-initiated African Growth Opportunities Act (AGOA) 2000, which has liberalized trade between eligible African nations and the U.S.,” APL Logistics said.
The company will be represented in Kenya by Fastrak Logistics Ltd, a warehousing and freight forwarding specialist. In Kenya, APL Logistics provides purchase order management services, export consolidation, first/last mile logistics, freight management, as well as warehousing and distribution services.
