APL Logistics sets up Mexico e-commerce channel for Walmart

   APL Logistics said Monday it has launched an online sales channel for Walmart in Mexico.
   The new solution, which includes a warehouse management system, integrates with Walmart’s new online shopping site and enables same-day order fulfillment and next-day delivery. Through the partnership, APL Logistics provides all order management, planning, and fulfillment for Walmart’s general merchandise category.
   APL Logistics said it also set up a 116,000-square foot fulfillment center. Value-added services provided at the facility include receiving and managing inventory for approximately 20,000 SKUs (stock-keeping units), product packaging for delivery, and coordination with Walmart’s last-mile carrier to meet delivery windows.
   All online orders are fulfilled by a single, centrally-located distribution center eliminating the need for in-store employees field phone calls, assemble customer orders or coordinate with transportation personnel on deliveries, APL Logistics said. – Eric Johnson
