APL, MOL plan peak-season joint Pacific service

APL and MOL plan to operate a few joint sailings in the transpacific trade only for the duration of the peak shipping season.

The two carriers, who are already members of the New World Alliance, have filed their proposed “APL/MOL 2004 peak season space charter agreement” with the U.S. Federal Maritime Commission.

The agreement would authorize the carriers to “cooperate in providing a limited number of round-trip voyages during the 2004 peak season in the trade between ports in the State of Washington and China (including Hong Kong) and Taiwan,” the FMC reported.

APL and MOL have requested expedited review of the agreement by the federal agency.
