APL sees higher volumes, rates
Neptune Orient Lines reported container liner company APL moved 394,500 40-foot equivalent units in the six-week period ending Dec. 31, 26 percent more than in the same 2009 period.
Average revenue per FEU was $2,647 in the period, up 21 percent from the same 2009 period, but off from a peak of $3,181 per FEU in the summer.
For the entire year, APL volumes increased 24 percent to 2.83 million FEUs, and rates averaged $2,787 per FEU, up 22 percent from 2009.
