APL vessel collides with Kaohsiung berth

The boxship APL Jeddah lost power and hit the number 58 berth at the Taiwanese port last Friday, according to a report from Seatrade Mariitme.

   The 2,468-TEU boxship APL Jeddah hit a berth at the Kaohsiung port last Friday, according to multiple news sources.
   The APL-operated vessel “suddenly lost power” when leaving the port and hit number 58 berth, reported Seatrade Maritime, citing a statement from the Kaohsiung Port Bureau. No crew members were injured, according to the port authority, and the damaged berth has been closed for repairs, and APL will carry out an assessment of any damage to the containership before it can continue on its voyage.
   According to ocean liner schedule and capacity database BlueWater Reporting, the APL Jeddah is deployed on the Japan Taiwan 6 Service-JT6 service, which is co-operated by APL and TS Lines, with fellow CMA CGM subsidiary CNC Lines purchasing slots. The loop has a port rotation of Kaohsiung, Osaka, Kobe, Tokyo, Yokohama, Kaohsiung, Xiamen, Hong Kong, Nansha, Shekou, Manila and back to Kaohsiung.
