APL’s box revenue up again

APL’s box revenue up again    Singapore-based Neptune Orient Lines reported an increase in subsidiary ocean carrier APL's average revenue per FEU, or forty-foot equivalent unit, for the second period in a row, lending credence to talk of rate recovery.
   The APL’s average revenue per FEU in the four weeks ended June 29 improved 5 percent to $2,726 from $2,599 a year ago. At the same time, APL moved 185,700 FEUs during the period, up 12 percent from 165,200 FEUs.
   For the year so far, APL’s volume is up 11 percent to 1.12 million FEUs with the average revenue per FEU down 2 percent to $2,592.
   Headquartered in Singapore, APL's North American operations are based in Oakland. The carrier maintains West Coast vessel calls at Dutch Harbor, Alaska; Los Angeles and Oakland, Calif.; Manzanillo, Mexico; Seattle, Wash.; and Vancouver, Canada.
