APL’s revenues slip as volumes rise

Despite a 6 percent rise in container volume, APL’s average revenue per 40-foot container during the four-week period ended June 2 was down 8 percent to $2,556 from $2,789 in the same period last year, “reflecting changes in both rates and trade mix,” said parent company Neptune Orient Lines.

APL’s container throughput improved to 160,300 FEUs from 151,900 FEUs in the same four-week period 2005.

For the year to date, APL’s volumes are up 5 percent to 686,900 FEUs from 651,800 FEUs, while average revenue per FEU has dropped 3 percent to $2,660 from $2,750.
