APM adds cranes at Rotterdam Terminal

APM Terminals Rotterdam has taken delivery of two new container cranes to better serve customers.

The two new cranes, made by ZPMC, will complement the current 11 super post-Panamax cranes already at the terminal, which are capable of handling the world’s largest container vessels.

The Rotterdam terminal is one of the APM’s busiest, averaging more than 15 mother vessels, 15 feeder vessels and 100 barge calls per week.

The terminal also handles more than 5,000 container trucks and 3,300 containers by rail weekly to inland European locations.

The cranes mean “our liner customers will now experience faster vessel turn times and more flexibility with their vessel port calls,” said Hans van Kerkhof, managing director of APM Terminals Rotterdam.
