APM Terminals names Mitchell chief commercial officer

APM Terminals names Mitchell chief commercial officer The Hague, Netherlands-based APM Terminals has appointed Richard Mitchell as chief commercial officer, effective Jan. 1.
   Mitchell will transfer to APM Terminals from A.P. Moller – Maersk Group affiliate Maersk Line Ltd., where he held the position of director of sales and marketing for the United Kingdom and Ireland.
   The global container terminals operator said the appointment of Mitchell is in line with its ongoing focus on growing and diversifying its customer base beyond Maersk Line. Mitchell will replace Tiemen Meester who earlier this year became head of APM Terminals’ human resources department.
   'I am looking forward to working with the leading shipping companies and ports of the world and understanding their requirements better as we continue to expand to meet the needs of our customers, and the need for modern terminal capacity and infrastructure worldwide,' Mitchell said.
