APM Terminals orders shuttle carriers for Virginia terminal APM Terminals, part of the A.P. Moller-Maersk Group, has ordered 20 shuttle carriers from Swedish equipment manufacturer Kalmar Industries for its new container terminal on the Elizabeth River in Portsmouth, Va.
   The 50-ton machines are due for delivery between April and November 2007 and will be equipped with extendable twin-lift spreaders.
   APM Terminals Virginia is expected to be operational by 2008 with an annual container handling capacity of 1 million TEUs.
