The port is located south of Ho Chi Minh City and has a draft of 14 meters (45.9 feet).
“The Vietnam market, with its 83 million people, has over the recent years shown significant growth and untapped potential as a manufacturing site in Asia,” Saigon Port and APM Terminals said in a joint statement.
Construction on the terminal is expected to start later this year with its opening scheduled for mid-2009.
