Argentina increases beef exports

Argentina has increased the amount beef exporters can put into the international export market.

The government had limited exports to 60 percent of production this year in an effort to prevent a sharp increase in domestic beef prices. But the government last week increased that amount to 70 percent. In March, Argentina temporarily stopped all beef exports, but has been gradually increasing the percentages since that time.

Argentina ships beef to the U.S. under the tariff rate quota (TRQ) levels negotiated through the World Trade Organization.
