Atlantic Vehicle picks Porsche port contract

Atlantic Vehicle picks Porsche port contract    Brunswick, Ga.-based Atlantic Vehicle Processors, a subsidiary of Wallenius Wilhelmsen, has obtained a contract from Porsche Cars of North America to process vehicles in the southeastern U.S. region.
   Atlantic Vehicle Processors will handle Porsche’s 911 and Boxster sports cars and the Cayenne sports utility vehicle. The company had provided special handling services for offloading Porsche’s Carrera GT car. The annual volume of the additional Porsche business is expected to be 10,000 units.
   Atlantic Vehicle Processors already handles Volvo, Land Rover, Jaguar and Ford cars. Established in 1998, the company provides vehicle processing services, including vehicle handling and logistics, railcar loading/unloading, inspection and repair, retrofits and other services.
   The facility expects to handle about 105,000 units in 2004.
