Atlas Air has appointed new regional management for its sales and marketing efforts in Europe, Africa, The Mideast and South Asia, and will establish smaller operating units in Hong Kong and Stansted, England.

Robert van de Weg has been appointed regional vice president of sales and marketing, Europe, Africa, Mideast and South Asia. He will be responsible for sales and marketing in those regions, working closely with regional operations. Van de Weg was vice president of air logistics at KLM Cargo.

Tony Carder has been named regional customer service and charter sales manager for the same regions. Carder held management positions with ACMI Airlines in the United Kingdom.

Atlas said the move to decentralize its management is designed to increase the company's responsiveness to customer needs.
