ATLAS AIR FILES SHELF FOR $600 MILLION IN DEBT SECURITIES

   Atlas Air Inc. a subsidiary of the newly created Atlas Air Worldwide Holdings Inc., filed with U.S. regulators Monday to sell up to $600 million worth of debt service and pass-through certificates.

   The Purchase, N.Y.-based carrier said in a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission that it plans to use the proceeds from the shelf offering for debt repayment, capital spending, buying back common stock, acquisitions and other general corporate purposes.

   Atlas provides airlines with charters including aircraft, crew, maintenance and insurance.
