ATLAS AIR LEADS CARGO CARRIERS AT MIAMI INTERNATIONAL

Atlas Air Inc. lead all carriers in cargo volume through Miami International Airport for the third year straight year in 2000, according to figures recently released by the Miami Airport Authority.

The carrier, which charters 747 freighters, crew, maintenance and insurance to international airlines, carried 300,756 metric tons of cargo through the airport last year, an increase of 28 percent over 1999.

“While overall cargo volumes at Miami International Airport have been declining for the past two years, Atlas Air and its customer airlines have continued to grow,” the airline said Thursday.
