BA World Cargo increasing European freighter program by 40%

BA World Cargo is boosting the number of its European short-haul freighter services by 40 percent following a “multimillion-pound investment.”

The schedule upgrade, effective in the next few days, will increase the airline’s number of weekly widebody services to 45 from 32. Highlights include the addition of Rome to the network and extra flights to and from Milan, Frankfurt, Stockholm and Paris.

DHL is BA World Cargo’s operating partner on the European routes.

“The short-haul freighter program has gone from strength to strength since its inception in October 2003,” said Chris Bosworth, general manager commercial development at BA World Cargo. “This significant investment will not only benefit our customers in Europe, but also customers throughout our global network who will have additional options for shipping freight into and out of Europe. Traffic to and from Italy in particular has grown rapidly and in addition to Frankfurt, Milan now becomes a key hub for BA World Cargo.

“This improved schedule complements our long-haul freighter network, bellyhold operations and trucking service and reflects our commitment to growing our global network and investing in our business to meet the changing needs of our customers,” Bosworth said.
