BA World Cargo launches first U.K.-based cargo operation into Trinidad

U.K.-based BA World Cargo announced Monday the launch of a new long-haul mainline service to Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago. The new Boeing 777 service, set to begin March 28, will be the first U.K.-based cargo operation into the island nation.

The Port of Spain service will fly three times a week — every Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday — via Grantley Adams International Airport in Bridgetown, Barbados. BA World Cargo flies 10 flights per week into Barbados.

David Shepherd, vice president of commercial for the Americas, said in a release that the Barbados-Trinidad region has been experiencing strong air cargo growth in recent years, particularly in perishable exports to the United Kingdom.
