Bahamas hosts Caribbean Marketplace 2008

Caribbean Marketplace, billed as the region's largest annual conference for the key tourism sector, will be held in Nassau, Bahamas on Jan. 13-15.

The event is expected to attract some 800 registrants, including both private sector and public sector representatives, from 36 Caribbean destinations. There will also be industry representatives from the United States, Canada, South America, Europe, Asia, and Africa, organizers said.

The format is designed primarily to encourage pre-scheduled business appointments between industry buyers and suppliers for everything from cruise lines and support companies to real estate developers, hotel operators, meeting planners, and the various businesses that provide support services for tourism in the Caribbean. The Caribbean Hotel Association puts the annual meeting together in conjunction with the Bahamian Ministry of Tourism.

In addition to the buyer-supplier meetings, there are a number of marketing-oriented seminars over the two days.

Caribbean Marketplace will be held at the Atlantis Paradise Island resort. The website for the conference is http://www.caribbeanhotelassociation.com/Mktplace.html#.
