Bahrain government passes terminals concession

Bahrain government passes terminals concession

The Bahrain Parliament on Tuesday narrowly voted 20-18 to allow a 25-year concession agreement for APM Terminals Bahrain to operate Mina Salman and Khalifa bin Salman Port.

APM Terminals Bahrain is a joint venture between APM Terminals, part of Denmark’s A.P. Moller-Maersk, and YBA Kanoo Holdings of Bahrain. The company was granted a provisional concession in November, but had to wait for the government to return from recess as all the country’s utility and infrastructure concessions to foreign companies require Parliamentary approval.

In addition to the concession agreement, APM Terminals will also manage pilotage services for Bahrain’s territorial waters, except the Dry Dock at ASRY, through its sister company, SvitzerWijsmuller.
