Barge refloated near Port Canaveral

Barge refloated near Port Canaveral    A 144-foot barge that broke free from a tugboat and grounded near the entrance of Port Canaveral Monday morning was refloated at about 2 p.m. and moored at a Port Canaveral pier.
   The Coast Guard said it was notified at about 1:40 a.m. Monday that the barge Mobro 1210 was aground near the Port Canaveral Jetty Entrance. Shortly afterward the crew of the tugboat Megan Beyel confirmed it lost control of the barge.
   The tug and barge are used by the Military Sealift Command as a “down range support ship,” and cargo included inert, non-explosive exercise torpedoes, batteries and household goods that the Coast Guard said posed no significant danger to the public.
   There were no reports of pollution or impact to navigation or transiting vessels, and the Coast Guard said it is conducting an investigation of the incident.
