BAX, Schenker kick off next-day N.J.-Toronto land service

BAX, Schenker kick off next-day N.J.-Toronto land service    Irvine-based BAX Global and German logistics giant Schenker have launched a direct next-day ground service between Newark, N.J. and Toronto.
   The only next-day service between Newark and Toronto had been via overnight air, according to the firms. The new BAX-Schenker service will cut one day off of their old service, and provide next-day delivery times at lower cost that comparable overnight air freight services.
   “Our strength of the existing ground freight department, working with BAX, will get shipments into Toronto and the Canadian market one day earlier,” said Scott Cairncross, vice president and national product manager-ground, for Schenker of Canada Ltd.
