BAX sets up Shenzhen hub for Trust International
BAX Global said Monday that it has been awarded a new transportation and supply chain management contract in Shenzhen, China by a European independent manufacturer of consumer technology products.
BAX has been operating a European hub for Netherlands-based Trust International at Moerdijk, which is close to capacity, prompting an initiative to set up a similar operation in Asia to support demand from the company's growing global customer-base.
Trust manufactures peripheral products for PCs, notebooks, iPods, MP3 players and PlayStation Portables.
Under the new contract BAX will pick up consignments from various suppliers in the southern Chinese manufacturing hub of Shenzhen, and consolidate regular ocean freight and ad hoc air freight shipments. Full-containerload shipments from suppliers in Dongguan province will bypass the Shenzhen hub for direct shipment to Europe, while less-than-containerload shipments will be consolidated at the Shenzhen hub for onward delivery to China, Latin America and Europe.
