BDP acquires stake in Spain’s Euromodal

BDP acquires stake in SpainÆs Euromodal    Logistics company BDP International has acquired a 50 percent stake in the Spanish company Euromodal S.A.
   Established in 1991, Euromodal provides a full range of logistics and transportation services, including ocean, air and road freight, custom brokerage, multimodal transport, warehousing, stock control, picking and packing, fiscal depot, bonded warehouse, outsourcing, and information technology specializing in loading and assembling software.
   In addition to its Madrid headquarters, the company has offices in Barcelona, Valencia and Bilbao. Like BDP, it has a worldwide network of affiliates.
   BDP made the announcement as it convened a meeting of 110 logistics executives from 25 countries in Barcelona for its biannual Global Strategic Forum from April 24-27.
   'We're holding this year's forum in Barcelona for a variety of reasons, including the growing importance of the western Mediterranean trade lanes and the fact that we've recently entered into a joint venture with Euromodal, an important regional gateway provider for handling USA imports to southwest Europe and northwest Africa,' said Richard J. Bolte Jr., BDP president and chief executive officer.
   Jose A. Martinez, Euromodal's president, said association with BDP 'gives us even greater clout in competing more effectively in the global economy.'
