BDP buys out outstanding shares in Brazilian joint venture

Philadelphia-based BDP International, a provider of logistics and transportation management services, has acquired full ownership of its Brazilian joint venture BDP South America from Grupo Mesquita.    No financial details were disclosed.

BDP South America was established in 2000, and offers full-service air, sea and inland logistics worldwide to and from Brazil. It has 16 offices in Brazil.

“Grupo Mesquita has been a good partner, enabling regional management and our staff to establish a solid foundation to help our customers grow,” said John M. Bolte, BDP Americas’ managing director. “Asserting a wholly owned presence in Brazil is an important initiative, not only for our customers in Latin America, but for BDP clients who rely upon our global network as well.

“We’re excited about linking this strategic trading partner to our operations in North America, China, the Pacific Rim, Europe and the Middle East. “Some of the world’s most respected companies have significant operations in Brazil, and we are now better positioned to support their efforts to grow in this dynamic market,” Bolte added.

“We intend to leverage our leadership in the energy and chemical sectors to expand our freight forwarding capabilities, to support the region’s automotive, consumer electronics, heavy equipment, pharmaceuticals and project logistics industries.”
