BDP Global Network adds Polar Logistics

BDP Global Network adds Polar Logistics

Swedish freight forwarder Polar Logistics has joined the BDP Global Network, a global alliance of small and mid-sized logistics firms.

'BDP's Global Network allows us to offer our customers the reach of a multinational firm but with the understanding and flexibility only a local firm can provide,' said Slava Caisin, managing director of Polar.

The alliance, developed by Philadelphia-based BDP International, already includes 18 companies from countries in Asia Pacific, the Americas, Europe and the Middle East. BDP started the Global Network in response to consolidation in the logistics services industry where large players are acquiring smaller firms in record numbers.

'The sheer size of these heavily asset-based mega-forwarders has a way of treating customers like commodities,' said Tim Frear, director of BDP Global Network, in a statement.

'Together, this group of carefully selected firms can effectively compete with the spending power and reach of the multinationals,' he added. 'Our membership-based program will enable quality firms to be part of a truly global organization without compromising client service.'
