Landmark, which handled more than 3 million parcels last year, will continue operating as a separate unit.
Dave Mays, Landmark’s founding partner, will remain at the helm of Landmark. He noted in a statement that the acquisition allows his team to stay in place while giving him enhanced expansion opportunities.
“The international growth and expansion that we’ve been seeking will be accelerated through this partnership,” Mays said. For bpost, the acquisition is a continuation of its growth model. The Belgium company acquired a majority interest in U.S.-based MSI Worldwide Mail in 2009, and in 2011 it bought the Asian company Citipost. Buying Landmark, according to bpost’s Peter Somers, will reinforce future growth in foreign markets.
“bpost international has acquired a great deal of experience and know-how in recent years,” he said in a statement. “Through this deal, we complete our international footprint and will further expand our business on the global e-commerce market to deliver the best, integrated suite of fulfillment and distribution services available in the market.” – Jon Ross
