Bergen joins K&L Gates law firm

Robert Bergen has joined the transportation and government contracts practices of the law firm Kirkpatrick & Lockhart Preston Gates Ellis LLP. He comes to the firm from Holland & Knight LLP.

Bergen focuses his practice on the public transportation and government contracting sectors, where he represents private entities in infrastructure project development, finance, contracting, regulatory and procurement, and matters that relate to business transactions between government and the private sector. Bergen has particular experience in railroad and public transit transportation issues.

Prior to entering private practice, Bergen was general counsel to Metro North Railroad and the Metropolitan Transportation Authority.

“A thriving transportation sector is crucial to a hub like New York City and its surrounding areas,” said Woody Collins, administrative partner of K&L Gates’ New York office. “As this industry relies in part on federal, state and local government agencies to ensure its growth, Bob’s background is particularly well suited to serve the needs of our transportation clients in New York and beyond.”
