Best Overnite, Midwest Motor form alliance

   California-based Best Overnite Express (BTVP) and North Dakota-based Midwest Motor Express (MIDW) have agreed to interchange less-than-truckload freight between California and the Midwest, creating an alliance that will streamline their business models.
   Details of the agreement were not released.
   The move will bring these two regional carriers to a larger stage, giving shippers the option to reduce the number of carriers used when shipping from California to 10 Midwestern states in the MIDW service area.
   According to a press release announcing the deal, “Regional carriers like BTVP, MIDW and many others face fierce competition in a market where nationally oriented and publicly traded carriers, as well as third party logistics providers, have offered aggressive pricing and broader service offerings. The BTVP and MIDW alliance aims to level the competitive playing field in LTL transportation.” – Jon Ross
